The Junior
Golf Program - 2008
General Information
The Junior Golf Program was organized to introduce and promote the
game of golf to boys and girls, ages 8-17. The program begins
with the basic information and
progresses from one level to another. It also offers the junior golfer an opportunity
to have fun playing the game in a comfortable and supervised atmosphere, as
well as an opportunity to compete. Registration will be conducted
at the Neshanic
Valley Golf Course Learning Center on March 1st starting at 8:00am. For additional

Junior Welcome to Golf
Neshanic Valley Learning Center
May 3 and June 7 • 10am - 11am
Free
This program is geared toward younger juniors (ages 12 and under) to
give them a first exposure to the game of golf.
Spring Golf Tune-Up
Neshanic Valley Learning Center
April 14-18 and May 12-16 • 4pm - 6pm
Prerequisite: must have some playing experience.
Fee: $130
Prep for 2008 Golf Season with a review of past instruction. Staff
will cover warm-up drills, grip, swing mechanics, and practice tips
for the new season.
22nd Annual Junior Golf School (only 2 dates left)
Neshanic Valley Golf Course Learning Center
July 21-25 and August 4-8 • 9am - 11am
Fee: $130
This week long program starts at the cup and works back. Children will
start off with the short game and work toward mid-irons, and by the
end of the week will be using woods. The program also covers rules,
golf etiquette, and playing experience on the practice holes.
Jr. Golf Camp
Neshanic Valley Golf Course
July 14 - 18, July 28 - August 1, and August 18 - 22 • 9am -
3pm
$400
This program is for the dedicated Junior (ages 10 - 17) who wants to
spend the whole week golfing. Every day we will play at least 18 holes
of supervised play with group lessons on each side of the round.
Advanced Golf School
Neshanic Valley Learning Center
June 30 - July 2 and August 11 - 13 • 8am-noon
Fee: $150
The goal is to further develop an understanding of swing mechanics
in order to build a solid swing that will work consistently. Goal setting,
course management, course strategy, how to practice, mental preparation,
and rules will be covered. There is some on-course instruction.
Junior Golf League
Green Knoll, Quail Brook, Spooky Brook, and Warrenbrook
Mondays, July 7 - August 11
Fee: $20 league registration plus weekly greens fee
Golfers compete for lowest cumulative score based on the four lowest
18-hole or 9-hole rounds in each age group. Awards will be distributed
at the Junior Golfers Recognition Night. League play will rotate around
the four county golf courses.
Academy Junior Golf League
Neshanic Valley Academy Course
Wednesdays, July 9 - August 13
Fee: $20 league registration plus weekly greens fee
Weekly 9-hole competition played on the Neshanic Valley Academy Course.
Awards will be distributed at the Junior Golfers Recognition Night.
Pitch & Putt League
Green Knoll Pitch & Putt Golf Course
Tuesdays, July 8 - August 12
Fee: $20 league registration plus weekly greens fee
Golfers compete for the lowest cumulative score based on his or her
four lowest rounds. League players must complete a minimum of four
rounds to qualify for awards in the respective flights. Three sessions
daily.
Joseph I. Bedell Junior Tournament
Quail Brook Golf Course
July 16
18-Hole Medal Play
Fee: $20 Includes greens fee
Open to registered junior golfers, ages 8-17. Players compete in flights
based on age. Awards given to top three finalists in each flight, boys
and girls. Special award for low gross overall, boys and girls.
13th Annual Rolland Yates Pitch & Putt Tournament
Green Knoll Pitch & Putt Course
August 14 • 8am
Fee: $25 Includes greens fee and a snack
Players compete in 5 flights based on 9-Hole Medal play. Open to boys
and girls, ages 8-17 who reside in Somerset County. Prizes will be
awarded for first, second, and third place in each of five age groups.
