Cabin Fever Kids – Winter Arts and Music Series

Need something for your kids to do during those dreary winter Saturdays? Join us for a four week activity series which will explore the arts through music, theatre arts, and crafts. This program is designed for children between the ages of 6 through10. Please pack a bag lunch for your child. A light snack will be served following an after lunch hike through beautiful Duke Island Park. Registration is required. This program is open to children of all abilities.

Gardens of Ireland
March 20

Garden writer/author Judy Glattstein will take us on a tour of Western European gardens (and explain why it’s different abroad!) First stop Ireland. Judy will introduce us to Ireland’s verdant landscape, gardening styles and its regional history. Then across to England, to such well-known gardens as Sissinghurst, and quick looks over the garden fence at some less familiar places. This program will be held at the Visitor Center.

Brighten your spring with a captivating guided tour of Buck Garden, a 29-acre naturalistic woodland rock garden. Enjoy magnificent drifts of native wildflowers and spring perennials blooming throughout the garden. Discover a great variety of plants growing among the rock formations and woodlands. Instruction is for a week, and begins with proper posture, grip, stance, and goes on to teach putting, chipping, and pitch shots. The young golfers gradually begin to use the mid to longer irons and build confidence and more successes. Summer Concert Series
June 29 - 9th Annual Party in the Park/Family Volunteer Day
featuring BIG SHOT

Anyone who loves Billy Joel will love Big Shot – as they are renowned as the best Billy Joel tribute show. As a group dedicated to performing Billy Joel hits of the past, Big Shot so closely mirrors the original sound that according to an article in the New York Times, sometimes even Mr. Joel himself can't tell the difference. Bring the family early and participate in family volunteer projects at 5pm. Activities include making bracelets for U.S. troops, placemats for Elijah’s Promise Soup Kitchen, and banners for local hospitals. A park clean up project will also be conducted along the banks of the Raritan River. Bring a nonperishable food item for a local food bank. A picnic meal will be available for purchase. NJ Blood Services will be conducting a blood drive. This event is a collaborative effort between the Park Commission and Somerset County United Way.

Independence Day Family Festival
July 4 - Fourth of July Family Festival featuring VERDICT and SMOOTH

Verdict kicks off Independence Day at North Branch Park, turning the park into a tropical vacation paradise with their rich blend of classic reggae, calypso, soca, and funk island music. Then Smooth grabs the stage with their re-creation of the Motown sounds of the Temptations, Four Tops, and Smokey Robinson. With a great brass section and smooth-as-silk voices, Smooth will keep the party rocking!

Mischief Night Madness

Halloween Party

Lord Stirling Stable and Basking Ridge Fire Company No. 1 and First Aid Squad present the 2nd Annual Halloween Bash, featuring the Chief Ned McMahon Memorial Haunted Hayrides. Enjoy games, free pony rides, music, and more in the indoor ring before or after a harrowing Halloween hayride thorough the Great Swamp! A child-friendly hayride is offered for younger children between 6 – 8pm.

Flower & Landscape Photography: Alternative Approaches

This class will involve technical instruction focusing on alternative approaches to flower and landscape photography. We will explore the abstract side of photography from multiple exposure images, using filters, blur techniques, and more. This class will include a lecture and shooting session in the garden. Jingle Bell Trail Ride
