Solar Energy

Solar panels

When the Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center was built in 1976, it was one of the first educational buildings in the country to have solar panels as one of the primary features. To enhance the use of solar energy, the 18,000 sq. ft. building faces 14 degrees east of south, perfect positioning for solar energy. In 2013 new solar panels were installed.

You can view the tons of carbon offsets from these solar panels here.
