Enrollment is Open for Summer Camps at Somerset County Park Commission
BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Kids and teens from six to eighteen can enjoy exciting and educational summer camp experiences at Somerset County Park Commission locations throughout the county. Camps will be held at the Environmental Education Center, the Stable at Lord Stirling Park, and the Therapeutic Recreation Program at North Branch Park.
In these summer programs kids will experience fun-filled adventures of learning and discovery through a variety of activities. Whether hiking, exploring nature, playing games, or horseback riding there’s a camp for every age and interest.
The Stable at Lord Stirling Park
Basking Ridge, NJ
The Stable is offering one week summer camp sessions from July 6 through August 14 for kids ages 6 to 18. Grouped by age ranges, campers will learn about horses, basic horse care, grooming, and riding through activities, crafts, and hands on experience. Camps are held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Pony Rides and Hike with Mini Horses: Ages 6-8 from July 6-10
- Introduction to Riding a Horse: Ages 9-12 from July 13-17
- Trail Riding and Horse Care Workshop: Ages 13-18 from July 20-24

Environmental Education Center
Basking Ridge, NJ
Come on out for nine exciting days and explore the beauty of the Great Swamp in Lord Stirling Park. With over 500 acres, the trails become a classroom to learn about ecology, conservation, and stewardship. Each day the camp will work to create an AWESIM Teens community through hikes, group and individual projects, and environmental exploration.

Therapeutic Recreation, North Branch Park
Bridgewater, NJ
Camp Curiosity is a weeklong summer day camp for children ages 8 to 13 with learning disabilities, high functioning Autism, or a mild intellectual disability. Campers will explore the wonders of space through activities such as making astronaut ice cream, space-themed games, building and launching rockets, and taking a trip to Monster Golf. The goal is to provide participants with the opportunity to develop recreation and leisure skills, enjoy positive peer relationships, expand confidence and social skills, and build a positive self-image.

Somerset County Park Commission
The Park Commission has 15,000 acres of county-owned open space, which is visited by two million park users each year. Five golf courses have three driving ranges, a pitch and putt course and a recreational putting course. Other attractions include a riding stable, an environmental education center, two tennis facilities, an outdoor pool, paddle boating, a rock and rare plant garden, an award-winning rose garden, an arboretum, and a sensory and fragrance garden. Six county parks also offer amenities such as athletic fields, picnic facilities, bike paths, fishing, birdwatching, cross-country skiing, and hiking.
