Basking Ridge High School Presents: Plastic Eden
(All Ages)
Plastic EdenPlastic Eden is not a place of perfection but of possibility. It brings together ceramics, drawing, photography, and sculpture to examine the landscapes we inhabit - and the ones we imagine – which are increasingly shaped by what we throw away. In this exhibition, the discarded drifts between the natural and the man-made, blurring boundaries between growth and decay, beauty and harm. Sculptural forms depict the co-existence of detritus and wildlife; photographs which frame trash as both intrusion and artifact; and drawings which weave together organic lines with synthetic debris, Plastic Eden asks viewers to consider how our environments absorb, resist, and are transformed by our waste. Here, waste is not hidden but revealed: embedded in shorelines, tangled in branches, or re-imagined into forms that echo fragile habitats. The work suggests that even in damaged places, resilience persists - and that our choices carry the power to nurture or erode the ecosystems we call home. In Plastic Eden, we confront the tension between ruin and renewal and imagine what might flourish if we choose stewardship over disposability.
An opening reception is planned for Wednesday May 13, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and is open to the public.
