LORD STIRLING PARK RULES AND GUIDELINES

- Any person who fails to comply with either a site-specific rule or temporary restrictions may be directed to leave the park system and may be subject to further penalties as determined by the Park Commission or local or state laws, rules, statutes and/or regulations.
- Visitors shall always be courteous and respectful to our staff. For your safety, you are expected to immediately follow any and all directives given by staff.
- Visitors and customers shall be courteous and respectful to other guests. As a family-oriented facility, inappropriate language or comments will not be tolerated.
- Please look out for trail markers. Visitors on foot must remain on multi-use trails. Visitors on horseback may use multi-use or equestrian only trails. Failure to remain on your designated trail can result in accidents and injuries. Equestrians always have the right-of-way.
- Trails may be closed at times for deer management. Please refer to the schedule online for advanced notice.
- Vehicles in designated handicapped parking spaces must display the proper placards to park in these reserved spaces.
- If you have an emergency call 911.
- A portable restroom is available in the parking lot. Additional restrooms are located at the Environmental Education Center, 190 Lord Stirling Road.
- Runners, cyclists, motorized vehicles, and strollers are NOT permitted.
- Dogs and other pets are NOT permitted on the trail. We do not condone leaving dogs, other pets, and/or children locked in vehicles.
- Fires, picnics, and camping are NOT permitted in any area of Lord Stirling Park unless part of a special Lord Stirling Stable event.
- Smoking and vaping are NOT permitted within Somerset County Parks. Alcoholic beverages are NOT permitted at any time in any area of Lord Stirling Park.
- Carry in carry out.
- DO NOT approach or feed wildlife.
- DO NOT remove plant material or plants (no foraging).
- If you see a horse and rider along the trail, stay back, remain calm, stay visible and wait for the rider to signal you to pass.
- If you see a loose horse on the trail: Call the Stable office (908) 766-5955 or the barn (908) 448-5072 immediately. Do not chase the horse.
- Trail permit is required for equestrians. To purchase a permit (trail pass to ride on trails) please call (908) 722-1200 Ext. 5528.
- Cell phone use, while mounted on a horse, is prohibited for safety and other reasons.
- A properly fitting ASTM/SEI-approved equestrian helmet must be worn, with the chin strap buckled (no snaps), by all riders/drivers. Bicycle helmets do not adhere to the ASTM/SEI equestrian helmet specifications and are not adequate nor permitted.
- Boots or shoes must have a smooth, hard sole and a definite heel of moderate height/or sneaker-type riding shoes are acceptable.
- No inhumane treatment of horses will be tolerated.
